All Right Already!
So What's the Project?

OK...So...what are we asking for?
For YOU to dream with US
For YOU to join with US
so TOGETHER  we will CREATE this wonderful place...
...and MAKE A DIFFERENCE

WHAT
IS
THE
PROJECT?

OK...OK...Here it is...
The Project

Take a peek at this powerpoint!
Powerpoint
(This one's original and not borrowed.  Check it out.)

The Project:
To create a regional entertainment center...
for actors and technicians to  grow in the art...
for audiences to laugh, cry, to be inspired...
for the region's economic & cultural growth...
for  making our world a better place.

NOW...ARE  YOU THE SKEPTIC OR THE DREAMER?

You can't be serious!?!  I mean... You're kidding, right?
That's Crazy!
Nope!  We're we're gonna   do   this! Are you gonna   help?
They always say that about   DREAMERS!   We're dreamers.   Wanna   be  one, too?   Come on, get  crazy with us!

Come on...put on your Don Quixote helmet and try to see it.

HILARIOUS COMEDIES
POWERFUL DRAMAS
ENTERTAINING CONCERTS
BEAUTIFUL SETS
DELIGHTFUL MUSICALS

Too much of a dream?  Too difficult?
Difficult, yes...too difficult...we don't think so.

Dreamers know the pitfalls and go forward anyway.  Dreamers endure the setbacks and go forward anyway.  Dreamers  keep their eyes on the goal...and go forward toward it.  We are dreamers.    Our dream is not about being world famous but about doing good in our own back yard.  That's fame enough for us.  The following men and women were dreamers, too.

Steve Jobs was a dreamer...

And, of course, Walt Disney...

       ...and Maya Angelou, too...

Abraham Lincoln was a dreamer...

...And Martin Luther King, Jr....and President Woodrow Wilson

Dreamers all...and many, many, many more...great and small.
WILL YOU BE A DREAMER WITH US?

COME ON...
WE'VE GOT MAGIC TO DO

Enjoy the opening number from Pippin performed at the 2013 Tony Awards.  Can this be done in Latrobe PA?  You bet it can!  Maybe not with all the bells and whistles, but you can bet the performance can be just as strong!  And the message, just as powerful.  The talent is here.  All we need is the opportunity to do the magic!
Pippin's journey is one everyone must take--the journey to self-discovery.  Discovering your talent is an important part of the process, and sometimes you can do that without ever leaving home.  Since 1979 Cabaret has been finding local talent and developing it. The experience is life-changing. The result is magical!

And this is the REAL magic:  THEATRE CAN TRANSFORM...US

each individual...
every community...
this region...
our state...
the whole country...
even the entire world!

one person at a time
AND HOW DO WE KNOW?  WE SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE.
THEATRE CHANGED US.

Two Men
A lot of people have come and gone since Cabaret started in 1979 and all have contributed to the project in some way or other...a few have always been there when they were needed to help mount a show.  But only two have withstood the test of time.  John Carosella since the beginning and John Horanic who came aboard seven months into the project.  THOSE TWO MEN...only two... have nurtured the dream through all  the years.  Why?  Why should they have bothered to keep their dream of having a home to replace the "barn home" they lost in 1985?  Why didn't they simply call it quits when the two of them loaded the last bit of theatre equipment out of the barn after working steadily all night long to do so?  Why?

Their answer:   "Theatre saved our lives and we have seen it save the lives of a lot of other people over the years.   Yes, we love creating  and presenting shows to the public, but we love even more the invisible and unmeasurable good it does for the audiences who experience the power of theatre  and the theatre practitioners who work hard to produce that power.  Here's a bit of our story."

"Corner of the Sky" from Pippin

Everything has its season
Everything has its time
Show me a reason and I'll soon show you a rhyme

Cats fit on the windowsill
Children fit in the snow
Why do I feel I don't fit in anywhere I go?

Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
I've got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky

Every man has his daydreams
Every man has his goal
People like the way dreams have
Of sticking to the soul

Thunderclouds have their lightning
Nightingales have their song
And don't you see I want my life to be
Something more than long....

So many men seem destined
To settle for something small
But I won't rest until I know I'll have it all

So don't ask where I'm going
Just listen when I'm gone
And far away you'll hear me singing
Softly to the dawn:

Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
I've got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky

Terrific, no?  All we want is for THE CABARET THEATRE to be a corner of the sky for whoever needs one.  So... yes... "We've got magic to do."  Want to make magic? Let's do it!

Some 2016 Tony Award Nominees agree that theatre can change lives.   You might want to hear what they have to say.

Let's
Begin
the
Transformation!

you've never been before...

Why?  Why, Why, Why, Why, Why?

"I have often said that New York  City is obviously the Mecca of theatre--after all, it's Broadway, the Great White Way--the place where every actor wants to end up.

And I really believe that to be true.  But I also believe that  the SALVATION OF THEATRE is out here in the boonies...in the small towns and cities of the nation.  Without what we do out in the hinterlands of the country, the New York Theatre would wither and die.

We nourish Broadway.  We grow the actors and technicians and the audiences that the New York Theatre NEEDS in order to sustain itself.  This is where  most actors begin to learn their crafts.  And this is where audiences are developed and become appreciative.

The "big time" theatre would not exist without the "small-time" theatres all over the country.  So, if theatre is important, then what we do here Latrobe, Pennsylvania--in Smalltown, America is important, too.  We are the greenhouse where the seed is planted and the young plants grow and mature to bear fruit.  We are the beginning.

THE CABARET THEATRE is dedicated to providing a unique place where artists, technicians, and audiences get a good, solid foundation in this most important of the arts--theatre."
--John J. Carosella, Artistic Director

P.S.  I think these actors will agree...

Guess where they started....
So...Let's begin our important work together.

Let's transform this...
...into this...
...and this...
...into this unique and comfortable theatre
venue with cabaret-style seating and a home-like atmosphere...

...and that's just for starters.  There's lots of transformations to  make and YOU can be a part of it.

Come on.  Take a chance.
Be a DREAMER.
